"Forgetting Sarah Marshall"
Last night Katharyne and I decided to go to the movies and watch "Forgetting Sarah Marshall".
Quick and dirty:
It wasn't a bad movie - if you don't want to see full frontal male nudity, come in late, and duck out early.
Long version:
For being a romance chick-flick-ish movie, it wasn't half bad. It was loaded full of funny scenes - and also had a couple that hit you by surprise. In the opening scene, Peter Bretter ( played by Jason Segel ) is dumped by his girlfriend of 5 years Sarah Marshall ( played by Kristen Bell )
After spending some time down on himself, his step-brother Brian Bretter ( played by Bill Hader ) suggests that he get out of the house, maybe go on a vacation. Peter - liking the idea - thought why not Hawaii? Brian suggested to go somewhere else, but Peter didn't listen.
Shortly after arriving in Hawaii, Peter runs across his future love interest Rachel Jansen ( played by Mila Kunis ) who is the customer service rep at the front desk. While standing trying to get setup in a room, Peter also runs into his ex Sarah Marshall - and the drama begins.
The rest of the movie is pretty much like every romance movie, accept - the Peter and Sarah don't get back together in the end.
To avoid completely spoiling the movie I will stop with the play by plays.
In the end, the movie was quite funny - yet cheesy in some aspects. Most of the cast you would recognize from many of the recent comedic hits such as "Superbad", "Taledega Nights", "Accepted" and "Knocked Up".
I would recommend the movie - I just wouldn't recommend taking children ;)
